Last week, we gave you the opportunity to vote for the worst Pink Slip Puppet. The results are in and...

...Rep. Patrick Rooney Jr.

...Patrick Rooney, a representative from West Palm Beach came in sixth. Rooney is most definitely one of Rick Scott's Pink Slip Puppets and voted for legislation that would allow big corporations and real estate developers to build on our land without proving they wont pollute our land and water.

He voted 100% of the time for Rick Scott's job-killing, anti-middle class agenda and also voted for bills to eviscerate protections against harmful development. If it was up to Patrick Rooney, developers could build whatever they wanted to, wherever they wanted to. His bill would strip protections that have been in place since 1985, which require developers to prove that their projects wouldn't contaminate the air we breathe or the water we drink, and place the burden of proof on you to prove that their projects are polluting our environment. That's a dangerous combination and would reduce citizen input into what gets built. Instead, developers would have virtually unchecked powers, eliminating a system of checks and balances that has been in place since 1985, because it worked. It protected us from developments that would pollute our environment. But Rick Scott and Patrick Rooney want to give more power to corporate real estate developers to build what they want. And we'll be stuck with the bill to clean up their mess.

Shockingly, Rooney's campaign for State House district 85 is bankrolled by Wal-Mart, a member of the Florida Chamber of Commerce, and similar special interests. Wal-Mart and Rick Scott's corporate cronies want to build more and more super stores. And Rooney would let them do what they want.

Enough is enough. Help us stop Rick Scott and his Pink Slip Puppets like Patrick Rooney.

And the 5th Worst Pink Slip Puppet is...

...Rep. Scott Plakon

In fifth is Scott Plakon from Longwood and he's one of Rick Scott's biggest Pink Slip Puppets. He voted for Rick Scott's job-killing, anti-middle class agenda 100% of the time and co-sponsored Rick Scott's legislation to gut taxes for big businesses in Florida, eliminating corporate income taxes for half of corporations and increasing tax giveaways to corporations.

The bills that Plakon support mean that most of Rick Scott's big business buddies will just walk away without paying their fair share to support essential services like roads, firefighters, and police officers. They depend on government services, just like we do, but Scott Plakon and Rick Scott would let them get away without helping pay for those services, footing us with the bill as usual. And not only that, but Plakon supported giving away more than a hundred million dollars in additional tax breaks to corporations. Private planes owned by a company would be exempted from taxes. This legislation doesn't create jobs, it lets millionaire CEOs fly around in their private planes without paying taxes, and we have to cover the cost.

Of course, Scott Plakon's campaign for State House district 30 hasn't been hurting because of the economy. Rick Scott's friends in the Chamber of Commerce are just funneling money into the Plakon campaign's bank account. benefited from corporate tax giveaways in the form of contributions to his re-election campaign, and the rest of us haven't.

Sick of them? Fight back against Rick Scott, Scott Plakon, and the Pink Slip Puppets.

And watch out. You might just see a Pink Slip Puppet near you profiled tomorrow as the third or fourth worst of the Pink Slip Puppets.
