It’s now been 2 weeks since a Miami-Dade County study found that FPL’s Turkey Point power plant is leaking radiation into Biscayne Bay. The Bay’s aquifer provides drinking water to more than three million people in South Florida. State Senator Miguel Diaz de la Portilla has actively worked on FPL’s behalf. No wonder he has been silent on this pollution issue in his district.
ICYMI Florida Gov. Rick Scott said that it’s time for Republicans to “respect the will of the voters” and unite behind Donald Trump.
“The 2016 legislative session may well go down in the history books as the year Florida lawmakers formally declared their independence from Gov. Scott,” said Senate Democratic leader Arthenia Joyner of Tampa.
“I would suggest if you’re the governor of a state you should be able to answer that question… and if you can’t, you really shouldn’t be a governor — especially Florida”
It is unacceptable that Rick Scott and our Florida legislators are using our taxpayer dollars to line their own pockets. As noted by a 2015 Harvard Center for Ethics study, Florida is one of the most politically corrupt states in the country.
